After the exciting Vogue Australia Cover shoot featuring Miranda Kerr, we sat down to talk to our Pélo Owner, Kirby Lago on colouring Miranda’s Hair, how to get the look and spring hair trends to look out for.

How would you describe Miranda’s Colour?

KL: Sun-kissed brunette with an angel glow face frame (My signature technique)

What would someone ask for to get her look?

KL: First, you need to get back to base. Picking a base colour that is as close to your natural regrowth will ensure your colour doesn’t have a nasty regrowth line and will grow out gracefully.

Secondly, find your glow point.  Ask your stylist what your glow point is. This is typically the highlight level that brightens up your look whilst remaining a flattering tone for your individual needs.

What key techniques did you use?

KL: We wanted to soften her dark brunette base and create lightness around her face, so I broke up her base using a mirco-slice technique and toned it back to create a golden glisten through her base. Then applied my signature micro foil angel face frame.

How do you keep up to date on the latest hair trends?

KL: I gather inspiration from what is going on around me. Not only in the hair industry but looking at texture and tones in everything I see.

·     What colour/s are you loving coming into spring?

KL: I love brightness. Spring for me is a time to liven up your look. That could include adding my warmth to your tone or cutting more texture and volume into your style.

What advice would you give for someone just starting out
in their hair career?

KL: Be happy to work hard. A positive attitude goes a long way. Say yes to opportunities, especially when they make you feel uncomfortable. That's a sign big growth is coming your way.  Be open to learning in every situation. You never know everything and sometimes you learn something amazing from the most unexpected place.

Don't let anyone else's doubts stop you from chasing your dreams. Their doubts are a reflection of their limiting beliefs not yours.
